I've been keeping an eye on the production of this film for a while and its all been looking really exciting, great cast with Meril Streep as one of the leads. What I didn't realize was this is a musical! and I found myself recognizing the style. I then realized that Into the Woods is already a stage Musical and the music is by Stephen Sondheim who also wrote the music for Sweeney Todd.
I think this film is going to be a lot darker than I first imaged and I think it could turn out to be a cult classic, something like Hocus Pocus (1993) but with more singing!
