Harry Potter Fans from the University of Manchester are hoping to raise £40,000 to make their own Harry Potter Fan Film.
This sounds very exciting and interesting. I love the idea that Kick-starter allows these kinds of projects to happen! I wish them all the best!
I just hope they don't get themselves into a crazy legal battle with Warner Brothers over the rights to Harry Potter.
This is something that as an ex-film student I would love to get involved in and give them my full support! Yes to indipendent film making!
A group of Harry Potter fans hope to raise £40,000 within a month to make a film inspired by JK Rowling's novels. Manchester student Cameron Cairnduff said his movie would follow the story of a wizard expelled from Hogwarts - the school attended by Potter. If enough is raised on the Kickstarter crowd-funding website before December, filming could start in the New Year. Mr Cairnduff said the new story "didn't want to rip off Harry Potter" but would explore issues raised by the books.
