ANOTHER Cinderella trailer has been released today, they are really going for it on this one. It's definitely on my to-watch list... even if its just to see the Frozen Short which plays before it. Disney are doing pretty well turning their animated classics into live-action, last year we had Maleficent and next year we've got Emma Watson staring in Beauty and the Beast!
Personally I'd like to see them try The little Mermaid... wouldn't that be entertaining.
There’s none of postmodern quirk of Into The Woods on display, no princes comically lacking in self-awareness, just a more straightforward telling of the Cindy tale overseen with CG-tooled precision by Kenneth Branagh. Lily James’s Cinderella is the orphan girl catapulted from skivvy work into royal favour by a Fairy Godmother (Helena Bonham Carter) proffering glass slippers. This goes down none too well with her evil stepmother (Cate Blanchett) and her two daughters Anastasia (Holliday Grainger) and Drizella (Sophie McShera), neither of whom are exactly delighted to find her falling into Prince Richard Madden’s good graces.
