Her best scene in The Philadelphia Story arrives early on when she and Hepburn have agreed to act like daffy eccentrics in order to confuse a pair of undercover tabloid journalists (played by Stewart and Ruth Hussey as his sultry, waspish paramour). She enters the scene "en pointe" wearing oversized bangles and, in conversing with the adult interlopers, segues in and out of very convincing French. The hacks can't get a word in edgeways, and it's not long before she's tip-toed over to a piano and is belting out a raucous showtune.
