I had read that Daisy Ridley had been first choice to play Croft in the reboot for the series so it is quite surprising that Alicia Vikander has been cast. After her Oscar win this year (supporting actress for the Danish Girl) and after seeing her inEx MachinaI think she will be a brilliant Lara Croft (even if another Tomb Raider film is a tad unnecessary). but I am more excited to see her in The Light Between Oceans.
Given all the chatter about Daisy Ridley being the possible new Lara Croft in Tomb Raider, it's almost surprising to hear that someone else has actually snagged the role. But signs that Ridley has been lining up other movies pointed to the likelihood that she wasn't doing it and, like Lara herself swinging in on a rope across a chasm, here comes Alicia Vikander, who will be playing the part.
